Soldiers of 80th Air Assault Brigade storm occupiers’ positions near Bakhmut. VIDEO
Ukrainian defenders from the 80th Separate Airmobile Brigade in the Bakhmut sector are storming Russian positions. The youngest soldier in the unit is 20 years old, and this was his first assault.
According to Censor.NET, this is stated in the story of"Ukrainian witness".
The positions were stormed in early June. The youngest participant in the assault, Mykola, is 20 years old, a volunteer, and this was his first combat mission.
The unit moves out at dawn, gets into position and starts digging in. "This is done for safety," explains Vitaliy, an assault company sergeant major. - "An attack can happen at any time. The thing is that this is a former Russian position that our guys have recaptured. Therefore, the Russians are well aware of the coordinates where they can hit with artillery. So we had to take extra precautions. Then the unit quietly and cautiously advances to the enemy positions. This can be very difficult. As Vitaliy says, sometimes it takes a whole day to cover 50 metres.
The project's journalists also talked to the medics of the 80th Air Assault Brigade - Maria, Roman and Serhiy. They told us about the hardest part of their job: when they bring the body of someone you have known for a long time. "When your friends are brought in wounded or dead, or when a seriously wounded person dies in a medevac," says Maria, "you never get used to it. Medic Serhiy says that we will remember and mourn the dead after the war. "The principle of our work is very simple: every wounded person must be brought home alive. We are constantly in touch: there may be no wounded for half a day, and then ten are brought in at the same time."
In the end, the unit successfully completes the combat mission. Mykola returns from the battlefield unharmed. According to him, he fulfilled the combat tasks assigned to him by his commander.
One of the unit's soldiers was injured but refused to be evacuated. "An SPG (easel mounted anti-tank grenade launcher) shell exploded somewhere nearby," he explained. - "But the injury was not critical enough to leave the battlefield.
Unfortunately, a scout from the 80th Separate Mechanized Brigade, soldier Oleh Protsenko, was killed during the assault, Ukrainian Witness said.
