Bedridden due to a head injury, fighter Vitaliy Shumei spoke his first words in a Barcelona hospital where he is currently staying.

According to Censor.NET, Chernihiv volunteer Iryna Tymofeyeva told this in a commentary to Suspilne.

She says that Vitalii's first words were answers to her father's everyday questions.

"When asked, 'Can I do it? 'Yes, Dad'. And when asked, 'Would you like water or juice?

Iryna added that since July, Vitaliy Shumei has been receiving treatment for "people's money", which Ukrainians collected, and it will continue until the end of August, and then they will decide.

As for the fighter's condition now, the volunteer said that he is actively pulling himself up with his shoulder girdle and raising his head.

"The main brain surgeries have been done, no more are planned," she said.

As Irina Timofeeva said earlier, on 1-3 June, Vitaliy underwent extensive diagnostics to restore brain function - the dynamics are positive. According to the volunteer, the doctors did not expect such results.
