As part of today’s exchange, Ukrainian journalist Roman Borshch returned: he was held in Russian captivity for 33 months
During the exchange of prisoners on December 30, former journalist of the Espresso TV channel and Mariupol defender Roman Borshch returned home.
The journalist's return was confirmed by his wife, Oksana Borshch, Censor.NET reports.
Roman served in the 503rd Separate Marine Battalion.
Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, Chairman of the Committee on Freedom of Speech, said that Roman Borshch spent 33 months in Russian captivity.
According to him, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War submitted him for exchange many times, and each time Russia refused to exchange him.
The organization Plast v Sviti reported that Roman had been defending Ukraine since 2018 and was captured in 2022 while defending Mariupol.
As a reminder, Ukraine and Russia exchanged prisoners of war on December 30. They managed to return 189 Ukrainian defenders home.
This is one of the largest exchanges conducted by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War since the full-scale invasion.
