Interrogation of captured DPRK soldier: I did not know I would fight in Russia. VIDEO
A North Korean captured soldier said that he did not even know who he was fighting against on the side of the Russian army.
The video was released by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Censor.NET reports.
A captured mercenary from the DPRK (who served in a reconnaissance battalion) said that there were several soldiers from North Korea who were trained in the use of heavy Russian equipment.
There were about 100 people on board the ship sailing from the DPRK to Russia, he said.
"It was probably a Russian ferry. But not a military ferry, just a cargo ferry. We were the only ones on the ferry," the mercenary said.
According to the North Korean, after graduation, all men usually join the military.
"I also joined the army after graduating from high school to join the intelligence unit. I was there for my entire service. I was 17 years old. Not under a contract, but conscript... I didn't know before I came to Russia that I would be fighting here in Russia. I didn't even know who we were fighting against," he added.
The DPRK soldiers who were sent to Russia did not know that they were going to take part in hostilities against Ukraine. They believed that they were going to participate in military exercises aimed at simulating combat operations, South Korean Ambassador to the UN Hwang Jun-kook said earlier.
What preceded it?
Earlier, South Korean intelligence said that about 300 DPRK soldiers had already been eliminated in the Kursk region.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Defence Forces had captured two DPRK soldiers. They are already in contact with the SSU.
Later, the SSU reported that they were conducting investigative actions with the DPRK prisoners.
