How the 126th Coastal Defence Brigade of the Russian Navy was liquidated: details of the operation in the Kherson region
Two years ago, on 30 January 2023, units of the 126th Coastal Defence Brigade of the Russian Navy made an unsuccessful attempt to storm Ukrainian positions on Kruglik Island near Kherson.
An archived video of the battle was posted on the telegram channel of the Hora reconnaissance strike group. Approximately 20 Russian servicemen crossed the canals by boat and landed at the dachas on Kruglyk Island. The invaders launched an attack on the outermost Ukrainian post with machine guns, rocket launchers, and support from artillery and MLRS, Censor.NET reports.
The Ukrainian defenders held their positions, and the drone operators quickly remedied the situation: they targeted the Russians with Mavic drops and adjusted mortar fire. The first occupiers were wounded, and the attackers began to panic and gather the wounded, trying to call for evacuation and reinforcements.
The Russians were unable to evacuate by boat as Ukrainian forces controlled the water and accurately covered the new groups with water and artillery. Around seven of those who could walk tried to break through the swamps toward their own side, but most of them were eliminated by drone strikes.
A few days later, Russian propaganda channels accused the brigadier of the 126th Brigade of thoughtlessly sending soldiers to their deaths. Thanks to this operation, Ukrainian forces not only destroyed the group of attack aircraft but also discouraged the enemy from attacking from that flank.
