Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea, who is considered the main candidate for the Russian Orthodox Church patriarch after the death of the current head of the Russian church, Kirill, has declared territorial claims to Turkey.

According to Censor.NET, in a video posted on social media, Tikhon said that he believes that "Constantinople will return to its native harbour, like Crimea".
