Serviceman Pavlo Martseniuk sustained a severe mine-blast injury last year in the Pokrovsk sector. The soldier lost his eyesight as a result of the injury. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and is waiting for facial prosthetics surgery.

"I'm glad to be alive, and the fact that I can't see - I've seen a lot in my life." Pavlo has lost his eyesight after the explosion, the soldier says.

Now he is trying out an app on his phone that helps him navigate, and thanks to the maps, he is learning to remember directions.

Paul's main support is his family - his wife and three children.
