Strikes on Tuapse
The Ukrainian Defence Forces are systematically striking enterprises located in Tuapse. On the night of 28 February 2023, explosions were heard at the oil depot. This was followed by a fire. According to preliminary data, the base was attacked by drones, which damaged the boiler room building next to the oil depot in Tuapse. The heating system of the canteen was damaged. After the explosion, two craters one and a half metres deep remained.
Late in the evening of 24 January 2024, explosions were heard again at the oil refinery of the Russian company "Rosneft". It became known that SSU drones attacked the plant. After two powerful explosions, a fire broke out. As a result, the primary processing unit for petroleum products — vacuum and atmospheric columns — was damaged.
Reuters later reported that the refinery had ceased operations.
In early May, the same publication announced the resumption of the plant's operations, but on 17 May, it was forced to shut down again after a fire caused by an attack by Ukrainian drones.
The drones attacked the plant again on 22 July. Local residents reported at least four UAVs attacking Tuapse at around 3.30 a.m. The DIU of the Ministry of Defence stated that the refinery in Tuapse had suffered significant damage and that its capacity would be reduced.
On the night of 26 February 2025, the DIU, together with other units of the Defence Forces, attacked the Tuapse oil refinery in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation. During the attack, at least 40 explosions were heard and a fire broke out, damaging oil refining equipment.
On the night of 14 March, drones attacked the Krasnodar region, specifically an oil refinery in Tuapse. The attack caused a fire at the facility. Forbes suggested that Ukraine attacked the refinery in Tuapse, Russia, using "Long Neptune" missiles. It took three days to extinguish the fire.
Further explosions were heard in the port area of Tuapse on 24 September. Unmanned boats attacked an oil terminal.
On the night of Sunday, 2 November, drones attacked the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation. The port city of Tuapse was under attack. According to preliminary information, the drones hit "Berth 1 of the Tuapse oil terminal". A tanker was also damaged.
It has been reported that after this attack, the Black Sea port of Tuapse suspended fuel exports, and the local oil refinery stopped processing crude oil.
