Drones attacked chemical plant in Veliky Novgorod: large-scale fire broke out. VIDEO
On the night of 11 December, Veliky Novgorod was attacked by drones. According to preliminary data, the strike hit a chemical plant, causing a large fire.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Russian Telegram channels.
According to locals, explosions and drone flights continued throughout the night. The chemical plant "Akron" is believed to be the likely target of the attack.
At around 4 a.m., Novgorod Region Governor Alexander Dronov confirmed the attack and said that air defence forces were operating in the region.
As usual, the Russian authorities have not disclosed the extent of the damage or the impact of the strike on production capacity.
What is known about the Acron plant?
PJSC Acron is one of the largest producers of mineral fertilisers in the Russian Federation.
Its products include:
- nitrogen fertilisers;
- urea;
- nitrate;
- industrial chemicals.
They are basic components for the manufacture of gunpowder, ammonium nitrate and other explosives for the Russian army.
The plant is a strategically important facility for the Russian economy and is critical to the military-industrial complex of the aggressor country due to the specific nature of its products.
