According to the agency, Lukashenko asked the US presidential representative to discuss not only regional issues and Ukraine, but also the war in the Middle East.

"I think my view on global issues, especially regarding the situation in the Middle East, will be important to you, as you are at war with our friends. And I am ready to speak frankly on this subject," said Lukashenko.

"Yes, I would very much like you to convey my views to Donald Trump. I remain, despite certain mistakes, as I see it, on the part of the United States, a supporter of your president," Lukashenko stated.

Experts note that such statements come against the backdrop of Minsk’s attempts to partially resume dialogue with the West.

The day before, Belarusian opposition figure and former political prisoner Siarhei Tsikhanouski suggested that the current visit by the American delegation could lead to further releases of political prisoners.

Since the summer of 2025, following contacts between the Trump administration and the Belarusian authorities, as well as a partial easing of sanctions, over a hundred political prisoners have been released from detention. In particular, at the end of February, one of the most prominent Belarusian opposition figures, Mykola Statkevich, was released.
