Drone operators from the 101st Airborne Assault Brigade destroyed 7 Russian "Shaheds" using STING interceptors. VIDEO

Ukrainian drone operators from the 101st Air Defence and Reconnaissance Brigade successfully shot down seven RussianShahed-type drones.

According to Censor.NET, STING interceptors equipped with their own Hornet Vision 360 video system were used to engage the targets.

The footage demonstrates the precise and coordinated work of the crew, who left the occupiers with no chance.

The aim of the operation is to destroy enemy drones before they can cause damage to civilian infrastructure or the positions of Ukrainian defenders.

Details about the STING interceptors

The Sting interceptor UAV is a compact, lightweight electric drone with a remote control unit and a combat module.

The design was developed with strict cost and mass-production requirements in mind, so the developers made a number of design compromises that reportedly struck a balance between flight characteristics, combat capabilities and the product’s cost-effectiveness.

The airframe is made entirely of plastic – likely using additive manufacturing (3D printing) to reduce production costs and speed up prototype manufacturing.

The fuselage is cylindrical with a pronounced nose cone and a tapered tail section; a straight wing of medium aspect ratio is located in the centre.

Behind the wing is an X-shaped pylon mounting, on which four propeller-motor units are installed, and in the tail section are small stabilisers.

According to the published illustrations, the aircraft’s overall length is approximately 300–350 mm with a corresponding wingspan; its weight is several kilograms, with the warhead accounting for a significant proportion of this.

In relation to the stated tests, in 2023 the unmanned aerial vehicle, without a payload in horizontal flight, reportedly reached speeds of up to 325 km/h, and with a warhead simulator – around 315 km/h.

Further improvements in speed characteristics were also reported, although specific figures have not been disclosed. The stated range is up to 25 km, and the interception altitude is up to 3 km.
