A new Sweetheart reconnaissance drone designed to operate deep in the enemy rear is undergoing testing in Ukraine.
This was reported by Censor.NET, with reference to the Ukrainian defense company General Cherry. According to the developers, the drone was created jointly with the military, taking into account combat experience in the use of drones at the front. After testing is completed, the system is planned to be launched into serial production.
What are Sweetheart's specifications
The new drone has a flight range of up to 150 kilometers and can remain airborne for up to three hours.
The drone operates at an altitude of up to 900 meters and is equipped with a digital communication channel that, according to the developers, is protected from the effects of electronic warfare systems.
Sweetheart is also equipped with a controllable camera with a zoom function and a laser rangefinder.
Launched by hand
The drone does not require a catapult or special equipment to launch. It is launched by a push from the hand.
The company says that already at an altitude of about 50 meters, the aircraft is virtually impossible to hear from the ground.
The developers also emphasize that Sweetheart costs 6 to 10 times less than existing aircraft-type counterparts.
"For units, this is an aircraft that is not as 'painful' to lose and, if necessary, can be deliberately sent on a one-way mission if the target is worth it," the company said.
