17-year-old Oleksandr Kazaryan and 14-year-old Rostyslav Pachkovskyi are winners of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ ‘Child Heroes’ campaign.
Following a Russian strike with guided aerial bombs, the boys were the first to arrive at the impact site and immediately joined in the rescue efforts.
Armed only with basic first-aid kits, tourniquets and haemostatic agents, they assisted the casualties and carried people out of the danger zone.
"Oleksandr carried out at least six casualties, whilst Rostyslav helped evacuate a further four, working alongside rescue workers and medics," the report states.
The teenagers’ courageous act and their readiness to act in extreme conditions are featured in a new video published on the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
