Fighting Under Way Near Mariupol. Residents Asked Not to Panic
Sounds similar to explosions can be heard on the left bank of the city.
This is stated by witnesses from the local population, Censor.NET reports citing Mariupol web site 0629.
Mariupol Defense Headquarters explained that the shots are due to a battle under way near Mariupol. Several tanks moved out from the direction of Novoazovsk, while the Ukrainian military is neutralizing a small breakthrough.

The Defense HQ also stated that the soldiers of the Azov battalion reported armed hostilities near Bezymenne village, but these forces are not suited for a significant breakthrough. This looks more like "muscle flexing" by Russian troops and terrorists and a reconnaissance by fire. The enemy also aims at disrupting a rally planned to take place in Mariupol today.
Within hours, the enemy will be defeated, and the column will not move further than Bezymenne, representatives of Azov battalion have reported.

At 2:00 p.m., Donetsk Region Governor Serhii Taruta stated that then, 4 tanks and about 40 paratroopers were conducting a fighting reconnaissance. They had left Bezymenne and were then between Shyrokyne and Berdianske villages. Taruta called on Mariupol residents not to panic stressig that the city is safe.
