Shelling of ZNPP: Russians disabled equipment for production of electricity for Ukraine, - Energoatom

The Russian occupiers shelled the Zaporizhia NPP all morning and disabled the infrastructure necessary to start power units 5 and 6 and restore the Zaporizhia NPP’s electricity production for Ukraine’s needs.

This was reported by "Energoatom", Censor.NET informs.

It was noted there that more than 12 rockets of the occupiers hit the infrastructure of the station during the morning. Overpasses of communication with special corps, storage tanks of chemically desalinated water, steam generator purge system, auxiliary systems of one of the two general station diesels and other equipment of the station infrastructure were damaged.

"The nature and list of the damaged equipment of the ZNPP shows that the raiders targeted and disabled the very infrastructure that was necessary for the start-up of power units 5 and 6 and the restoration of electricity production by the Zaporizhia NPP for the needs of Ukraine," the report says.

It is noted that recently "Energoatom" made a decision, and the State Inspection of Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine (State Atomic Regulation, DIARU) granted permission to bring power units 5 and 6 to the minimum controlled power level.

At the same time, the Russian military tried in every possible way to prevent the Ukrainian personnel of the station from starting the power units. "The fake plant director from Rosatom Romanenko, with the help of the Russian military, who seized the ZNPP and are using it as their own military base, blocked the preparation of power units to bring them to the minimum power level," the message states.

On November 20, the Russian military fired at and damaged the very equipment, the failure of which makes it impossible to take any further actions regarding the start-up of power units of the ZNPP.

"Once again, we appeal to the international community to urgently take measures for the demilitarization of the ZNPP as soon as possible, the withdrawal of all Russian military personnel from the territory of the plant and the city of Energodar, and the return of the Zaporizhzhia NPP to the full control of Ukraine for the sake of the security of the whole world!", Energoatom urged.
