During a meeting in Kyiv with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to continue cooperation on strengthening the nuclear safety of Ukrainian nuclear facilities amid the hostilities.

According to Censor.NЕТ, this is stated on sіte of Оffice of President.

Zelensky emphasized the inadmissibility of continued shelling of Ukrainian nuclear energy facilities by the Russian aggressor, and therefore welcomed the deployment of the agency's inspectors at Ukrainian NPPs.

"I know that our teams are working to strengthen the safety of nuclear infrastructure. Thank you for the positive decision to deploy inspectors at our nuclear power plants. This is very important," the Head of State said and expressed hope that such IAEA missions would make it impossible for Russia to continue shelling Ukrainian NPPs.

Particular attention was paid to the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is under temporary Russian occupation.

The President of Ukraine emphasized the importance of the IAEA Director General's efforts to explain to the agency's member states the violations of nuclear safety standards by the aggressor and to bring to the international community the need for the speedy de-occupation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

Zelenskyy also emphasized the need for IAEA inspectors to be present at ZNPP and noted that the Ukrainian side was doing everything to ensure their safety.

In addition, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of demilitarizing the plant and withdrawing all Russian representatives from it without exception. The President noted that Ukraine would continue discussing this issue exclusively with the IAEA.

As a reminder, on Monday, the IAEA opened a permanent presence mission at the South Ukrainian NPP, and deployed such missions at the Khmelnytsky and Rivne NPPs, as well as in the Chornobyl NPP area. The IAEA mission has been working at the Zaporizhzhia NPP occupied by Russian invaders since September.
