Georgia, Armenia and Kazakhstan help Russia to circumvent sanctions - media

Georgia, Armenia, and Kazakhstan are actively helping Russia circumvent Western sanctions imposed on Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine, Politico reported Wednesday.

A significant increase in exports to Russia is evidence of the intensification of the resale business in these countries. This is mainly about the supply of Western goods that are not available in Russia.
Customs data from the Trade Data Monitor platform shows that Georgia's trade with Russia has increased by almost 22% since Moscow began its total invasion of Ukraine, and the amount of alcohol it exports to Russia has increased by more than 120%.
Kazakhstan's exports to Russia increased by 57% over the same period.
According to the World Bank, the GDP of Armenia, which maintains close trade ties with Russia, unexpectedly grew by 11% last year, while exports to Russia increased fivefold and remittances from Russia jumped sevenfold compared to last year.
New supply chains that provide Russians with alcohol, luxury goods and other goods undermine Europe's efforts to punish Moscow and should be blocked, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said in an interview with the publication.
According to him, Vilnius is calling on the EU to appoint a commissioner to oversee the development and application of sanctions against Russia and its partners.
