Both chambers support Ukraine in US Congress - Pelosi

The bicameral support for Ukraine in the Congress is maintained because it is in the national interest of the United States.
This was announced on Monday during the Copenhagen Democracy Summit by the 52nd Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and 66th Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to Ukrinform.
"We are very proud of the remarkable leadership of our President Joe Biden, who is uniting the free world to stand with Ukraine. There remains strong bipartisan and bicameral support in the United States Congress to ensure that Ukraine gets the help it needs to emerge victorious," said Pelosi, who represents the Democratic Party.
She also called on the international community to work to hold Russian President Vladimir Putin and his government accountable.
In her turn, Condoleezza Rice, a representative of the Republican Party, former White House National Security Advisor and U.S. Secretary of State (2005-2009), emphasized that the world is currently experiencing a test for generations. She emphasized that Ukrainians are not demanding to fight instead of them in this struggle, but are asking for weapons.
"This is not only a matter of justice, it is a matter of protecting our interests. What is happening in Ukraine affects the world order," she emphasized. In this regard, she noted that the events in Ukraine are inseparable from other challenges that threaten the world in Europe, the Middle East and in the case of China.
"Putin thinks that time is on his side. But we have to show him that even if he is willing to sacrifice the lives of young Russians, even if he is willing to terrorize the Ukrainian people, our unity and our support for Ukraine will not be shattered," Rice emphasized.
According to her, any potential ceasefire agreement will give Russian forces a convenient position to invade Ukraine again when the time is right.
"To avoid that, we need to give Ukraine everything it needs today... to make sure that Russia can never achieve its goals," Rice summarized.
As a reminder, White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby said today that the United States provides Ukraine with aid packages every two weeks to strengthen its defense capabilities. This pace will continue in the coming months.
