Meloni on Italy’s participation in "coalition of fighters": "No decision has been made yet, we are assessing it together with our allies"

Italy can join international efforts to train Ukrainian pilots on modern fighter jets, but the transfer of F-16s is out of the question because the country does not own them.

This was stated by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at a press conference following her participation in the G7 Summit in Japan, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to "European truth".

She emphasized that Italy does not have an F-16, "so we are unlikely to be able to participate in the project" to provide the aircraft.

"We are talking about the possible training of Ukrainian pilots, which we have not yet decided on and are evaluating together with our allies," she added.

As you know, the Italian Air Force is armed with Eurofighter Typhoon fighters and AMX International light attack aircraft.

In February, the media reported that Italy was discussing the possibility of transferring its own fighter jets to Ukraine, but was ready to do so only if other countries took a similar step.
