Russians in area of Bakhmut found themselves in dangerous situation, - ISW

The Russian armed forces, having taken Bakhmut, found themselves in a dangerous situation there, but Russian propaganda and military bloggers hardly talk about it, instead celebrating the victory.
This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Censor.NET reports.
"The exaggerated focus on claims of victory in Bakhmut diverts attention from the precarious position the Russian military finds itself in and around Bakhmut. The Russian military in Bakhmut is in a vulnerable position, especially as its offensive in the area appears to have run out of steam, giving the Ukrainian army the opportunity to launch new counterattacks on its already weakened flanks near Bakhmut," the report says.
From the ISW's point of view, an additional risk for the Russians is the withdrawal of its units from Bakhmut to the rear within a few days, announced by the founder of the "Wagner" PMC Yevhen Prigozhin.
If the Wagnerites retreat, the Russian Ministry of Defence may have to cover this area with poorly trained and equipped conventional units - the same ones that had just retreated on the flanks north and south of the city in May.
"At the same time, this danger is largely ignored in the Russian information space," ISW writes.
