"Washington continues to support NATO’s open door policy," - Austin

US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin said that Washington’s position has not changed since "Bucharest", Ukraine will become a member of NATO, it is not clear when.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to European Pravda.
Austin emphasized that Washington "continues to support NATO's open door policy," adding that "every country has a different path to joining" the Alliance.
"Again, I would like to add that our position has not changed since the time of "Bucharest" (the 2008 summit, where Ukraine was not provided with an action plan regarding membership, but it was recorded that it would one day become a member of the Alliance. - Ed.)," he noted.
"And in the future, I believe, you will see how allies and partners work together to provide Ukraine with what it needs for success, as well as further (security. - Ed.) assurances," the head of the Pentagon added.
As reported, US President Joe Biden and his administration are currently in the midst of negotiations with NATO partners on how and when Ukraine can join the Alliance.
