Defense forces have reserves for radiation intelligence, - General Staff

In the event of a radiation hazard, which may be caused by the detonation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the Ukrainian military is provided with means of personal protection and radiation control.
As Censor.NET informs, the Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Oleksiy Hromov, told about this in an interview with Ukrinform.
Gromov noted that the scenario with a relatively high probability of blowing up the ZNPP is not new.
"It is the object of careful study and constant monitoring of the situation - both for the possible consequences of the implementation of such a scenario, and for assessing the impact on the performance of tasks by the troops and taking the necessary response measures," the brigadier general emphasized.
He also assured that Ukrainian military personnel are provided with means of personal protection and radiation control directly at the front in case of radiation danger.
In addition, according to Hromov, the Defense Forces have personnel reserves prepared and equipped with modern devices, which can directly perform the tasks of radiation reconnaissance, control and decontamination (the process of carrying out medical and sanitary measures with the aim of eliminating chemical, radiation factors and biological agents from the surface of the body a person, in a product or on products prepared for consumption, on other objects, including vehicles that may pose a risk to the health of the population) of units that have fallen into the zone of radioactive contamination. The units of the State Emergency Service will also be involved in the implementation of relevant specific measures.
