NATO leaders have reached a "good compromise," - Estonian Prime Minister Kallas

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said she understands President Zelensky’s frustration, but considers NATO’s decision a "good compromise."

This is stated by Censor.NЕТ with reference to Associated Press.

"The allies have demonstrated that they are clearly ready to accept Ukraine into NATO. Of course, this will take time. But when the conditions are met and a window of opportunity opens for a short period of time, then we will be able to move towards membership," she said.

Kallas added that inviting Ukraine to join NATO before the war is over would, in fact, put the Alliance in direct confrontation with Russia.

"So what we're doing is giving Ukraine all the help we can give so that they can defend themselves and push Russia back. And when that is done, there will be an opportunity for sustainable peace, as well as a window of opportunity for NATO membership," Kallas emphasized.

At a summit in Vilnius today, North Atlantic Treaty Organization members said they would be able to extend an invitation to Ukraine to join when all allies agree. The Membership Action Plan is no longer a prerequisite.
