Now Ukraine is closer to NATO than ever - Stoltenberg

столтенберг,єнс

The Allies reaffirmed that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance and agreed to lift the MAP requirement.

According to Censor.NET, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this during a press conference.

"Our new multi-year program will help you move from Soviet-era equipment and standards to NATO equipment and standards. It will make the Ukrainian Armed Forces fully operationally compatible with NATO standards," he stressed.

According to him, the inaugural meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council will begin today.

"Ukraine is now closer to NATO than ever before. Allies have reaffirmed that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance and agreed to lift the MAP requirement. This will change Ukraine's membership path from a two-stage process to a one-stage process. We will extend an invitation to Ukraine to join NATO when the Allies agree that the conditions are met. This is a strong, united message from Allies on your path to NATO membership," the Secretary-General said.
