Russia attacked at night with Kh-22 and Onyx missiles, Ukraine needs more air defenses to shoot down such missiles.
This was reported by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yurii Ihnat, on Channel 24, Censor.NET informs.
"We can cover Odesa ports, Kyiv region, Dnipro, Lviv... But we cannot block all directions from which missiles fly into Ukraine," explained the spokesman of the Air Force.
Air defense can work on ballistic targets only if they are within a 40-kilometer radius. Therefore, according to Ignat, it is extremely difficult to completely intercept ballistic missiles. So to shoot down the Kh-22, a cruise missile that attacks on a ballistic trajectory, more air defenses are needed
"The missile is extremely fast, so more means are needed to counter those missiles. The missile is no longer manufactured, they are old Soviet ones - it's from the good news that they can't make them, the most destructive and most inaccurate missiles.. that have an enemy. But this does not stop them," Ihnat said.
According to him, the Kh-22 has an error of 600 meters. And the Russians still hit densely populated cities with them.
"Onyx", which the enemy also launched today, is a missile of the coastal missile complex, designed to destroy ships. A special feature is their low flight, which makes them difficult to shoot down. The Russians use them for coastal attacks.
It will be recalled that the Russians attacked Ukraine with air, ground and sea-based cruise missiles, as well as Iranian "Shaheds". 13 Kalibrs, a Kh-59 guided air missile and 23 attack UAVs were destroyed.
