Romania will continue to help Ukraine, - Prime Minister Ciolacu

Romania will continue to help Ukraine and advocates strong support for Kyiv from the European Union.

This was stated by the Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu, Censor.NET informs with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

Ciolacu said his government would continue to provide "multifaceted support" to Ukraine, even as European allies show signs of war fatigue, especially as the conflict between Israel and Hamas overshadows the Russian invasion. According to him, the conflict in the Middle East will probably be resolved earlier than the war adjacent to Romania.

"Romania will continue to help Ukraine, despite the political costs," Ciolacu said in an interview with Bloomberg. "These political costs are less important than the precedent that Russia's victory will create."

The Prime Minister pointed to a surge in support for right-wing and populist forces across Europe, many of whom have criticized governments' support for Ukraine and expressed regret over severing ties with the Kremlin. In Germany, the rise of the far-right Alternative for Germany party was partly caused by pro-Russian sentiment.

"Can you imagine how many Putin's doubles we will get among some populist European politicians?" asked Ciolacu.

The leaders of the European Union publicly present a united front against Russia, with the bloc discussing the 12th package of sanctions, aimed at 5 billion euros in trade with Russia.
