Defending Ukraine, marathon runner Serhii Ivanenko died
Ukrainian athlete Serhii Ivanenko died in the war on November 10, while performing a combat mission near Avdiivka.
This was reported in the Committee of Youth and Sports of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Censor.NET informs.
Serhii Ivanenko was born on July 11, 1982. He studied at the Poltava State Agrarian Academy. In peaceful life, he was engaged in running. He was a member of the local club Running club Poltava. He overcame half marathon and marathon distances at All-Ukrainian sports events.
From the first days of a full-scale invasion, he went to territorial defense. Then he fought in the Donetsk region, was wounded, but after recovery, he returned to the front and performed his military duty with dignity.
On November 16, a mourning ceremony of farewell to the fallen defender was held in the Holy Assumption Cathedral of Poltava. The soldier is survived by his wife, parents and two sons.
