"Increased shelling of Ukraine is response to those who believe that peace with Putin is possible" - EU External Action Service spokesperson Stano

The European Union has stated that the increase in the intensity and ferocity of the occupiers’ attacks on Ukraine is dictator Putin’s response to those who still believe in the possibility of reaching a peaceful agreement with Russia.

This was announced by the spokesperson for the EU External Action Service, Peter Stano, at a briefing in Brussels, Censor.NET reports citing European Pravda.

According to him, Europe is closely monitoring the shelling of Ukrainian cities, and the attacks have become much more powerful in recent days. More and more often, Russians are hitting critical infrastructure, thermal power plants, and dams, using hundreds of drones and missiles against the civilian population of Ukraine.

"This is something we strongly condemn. We call on Russia to stop these actions, just as we call on Russia to stop its aggression in general. This is a brutal war against the civilians of Ukraine," Stano said.

"This shows the nature of this aggression. It is also Putin's response to all those who still think that peace with him is possible. This is a model of how he responds to any peace efforts, any discussions about peace on various international platforms - simply by increasing the brutality with which he terrorises civilians," the spokesman stressed.

He underlined that deliberate attacks against civilian targets constitute war crimes, and the EU will continue to support Ukraine.

"This only strengthens our resolve to continue supporting Ukraine," Stano said.

Earlier, Stano said that Ukraine would receive 500,000 ammunition out of the promised 1 million from the EU by the end of March 2024.
