Germany detains two Russian agents who wanted to sabotage military aid to Ukraine - Spiegel

Two agents working for Russian special services were arrested in Bavaria, Germany. They were planning sabotage at military infrastructure facilities to disrupt the supply of military aid to Ukraine.
According to Censor.NET, this was written by German newspaper Spiegel.
It is noted that Federal Prosecutor General Jens Rommel has arrested two suspects who were planning sabotage operations in Germany on the orders of the Russian secret service.
Police detained the suspects in Bayreuth. The main defendant is 39-year-old Dieter S., a Russian-German national from Bavaria.
What is known about the suspects
Investigators are convinced that since October 2023, Dieter S. has been in contact with Russian special services regarding sabotage operations in Germany. He is alleged to have agreed to carry out arson attacks and bombings of military infrastructure, arms factories and industrial facilities.
In particular, he was interested in transport routes used for the transport of military goods. The purpose of the planned attacks was to undermine German support for Ukraine.
The newspaper notes that Dieter S.'s accomplice was 37-year-old Alexander J., also of Russian-German descent, whom the federal prosecutor's office accuses of being a Russian intelligence agent.
According to the newspaper, one of the facilities the detainees were spying on is located in Grafenwoehr, Bavaria. Among other things, there is an important military training ground there, where the US Army trains the Ukrainian military, for example, on Abrams main battle tanks.
Dieter S. is already known to German security authorities. Between 2014 and 2016, he was a member of the so-called "DPR". In Germany, the "DPR" is classified as a terrorist organisation by the justice system, so Dieter S. is also accused of membership in a terrorist organisation abroad.
Because he was in possession of a firearm, the federal prosecutor's office also opened an investigation against him on suspicion of preparing a violent act that threatens the state.
The agents were taken into custody
According to Spiegel, Dieter S. and Alexander J. were taken to Karlsruhe on Wednesday and brought before judges of the Federal Court. Both were taken into custody.
