Hackers from Belarus attacked Ukrainian public sector: They sent bait documents with malicious macros - State Special Communications Service

Belarusian hackers launched a cyberattack on project offices and local governments in Ukraine using a malicious program.
This was reported by the press service of the State Special Communications Service, Censor.NET reports.
As noted, the government response team CERT-UA recorded a surge in the activity of the Belarusian hacker group UAC-0057 between July 12 and 18.
"The attackers used a typical combination of the PICASSOLOADER malware and the Cobalt Strike Beacon backdoor, sending out bait documents with malicious macros," the State Special Communications Service said.
The press service said that the documents found indicate that hackers are interested in financial and economic indicators, taxation, and local government reform.
The State Special Communications Service urged project office specialists and local government employees to be especially careful and immediately contact CERT-UA if they detect suspicious activity.
