Only 3% of Ukrainians consider Russians "fraternal peoples" - Razumkov Centre survey

Лише 3% українців вважають росіян братнім народом

The number of Ukrainians who consider Russian citizens a "fraternal peoples" has decreased.

This is evidenced by a survey conducted by the Razumkov Center, Censor.NET reports.

In 2017, about a quarter (27%) of respondents agreed with the statement that "Ukrainians and Russians have always been and remain fraternal peoples." In 2024, only 3% shared this opinion.

"The share of those who believe that Ukrainians and Russians have never been fraternal peoples has increased significantly (from 16% to 44%). The share of those who believe that Ukrainians and Russians are no longer fraternal peoples, although they used to be, has decreased from 50% to 46%," the study says.

The survey was conducted from June 6 to June 12, 2024, as part of the USAID/ENGAGE activity, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Pact in Ukraine. The contents of the survey are the sole responsibility of Pact and its partners and do not necessarily reflect the views of USAID or the United States Government.

The survey was conducted face-to-face in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Chernivtsi regions and the city of Kyiv (in Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Kherson regions - only in the areas controlled by the government of Ukraine and not subject to hostilities).

2016 respondents aged 18 and older were interviewed. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%. At the same time, additional systematic sample deviations may be caused by the consequences of Russian aggression, in particular, the forced evacuation of millions of citizens.
