Slovakia may take "indefinite reciprocal measures" due to Ukraine’s suspension of transit of "Lukoil" oil - President Pellegrini

Президент Словаччини Петер Пеллегріні

Slovakia is threatening to respond to Ukraine's actions to stop the transit of oil from the Russian company Lukoil through the Druzhba pipeline.

This was stated by Slovak President Peter Pellegrini, Censor.NET reports with reference to Dennikn.

It is noted that Pellegrini and the country's Defense Minister Robert Kalyniak "sharply criticize" Ukraine for refusing to supply Russian oil.

The Defense Minister said that Kyiv was "risking a lot" and that such actions were "irresponsible."

At the same time, Pellegrini said that Slovakia could take "indefinite reciprocal measures." He added that his country does not deserve such an attitude from Kyiv.

"If the situation does not improve, we will have to react," the Slovak leader emphasized.

He reminded that Slovakia is helping Ukraine with the reverse of gas and electricity supplies.

As a reminder, on July 18, Slovakia and Hungary announced that Ukraine had stopped the transit of "Lukoil" oil through the Druzhba pipeline.

"Lukoil has been under sanctions in Ukraine since 2018, but they were limited - they only concerned the withdrawal of capital, restrictions on trade operations, and a ban on participation in the privatization or lease of state property. In June 2024, the National Security and Defense Council significantly expanded them, adding, among other things, a ban on transit.
