Ukraine and Mauritius sign visa-free deal

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius Manish Gobin held talks in the Mauritian capital Port Louis, during which they signed a visa-free deal.
This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Censor.NET reports.
As noted, this is the first visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to Mauritius since the establishment of bilateral relations in 1992.
The ministers discussed in detail the deepening of Ukraine's ties with African countries, the development of our country's relations with the African Union, and the prospects for trilateral trade and investment cooperation between Ukraine, Mauritius, and individual African countries. The development of trade and investment between Ukraine and Mauritius was discussed in detail.
The parties agreed to take further steps in preparing for the conclusion of an agreement on mutual promotion and protection of investments and an agreement on avoidance of double taxation, which will significantly revitalize economic and trade cooperation, help attract investment in Ukraine and its recovery.
Kuleba also welcomed the interest of Mauritian businesses in rebuilding Ukraine. He invited Mauritius to take part in the Ukraine Recovery Conference next year in Rome.
"At the end of the negotiations, the ministers signed a visa-free deal between Ukraine and Mauritius, which at this stage will primarily facilitate the travel of Mauritian investors and businessmen to Ukraine to find new work opportunities in our country. After the war is over, the agreement will help increase the number of Ukrainian tourists in Mauritius. The agreement will enter into force after the completion of internal procedures in both countries," the Foreign Ministry said.
