Ukraine never wanted to seize Kursk NPP - Zelenskyy

Ukraine has never planned to seize the Kursk nuclear power plant and would not have done so in order not to be like Russia.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with media representatives from Northern Europe, Censor.NET reports.
"Russia thinks they are very strong. But if we wanted to take over their nuclear power plant, we could do it. But we have never wanted to do that, because we understand that it means that we will be just like Russia. We do not occupy their critical infrastructure, as they did with Zaporizhzhia NPP," the Head of State said.
The President noted that the operation in the Kursk region was a response to Russian attacks in the north of Ukraine, when Russia attacked Kharkiv region and publicly announced its intention to create a "buffer zone" in the Kharkiv region.
"When we realized that no one would give us long-range weapons, they (Russians - ed.) were destroying us from their territory and wanted to create a buffer zone in the north, we, of course, went to Kursk. To create a buffer zone and prevent them from destroying hospitals, kindergartens, schools in the center of the northern region, the city of Sumy," Zelenskyy said.
He added that the invasion of the Kursk region and the seizure of some territory forced Russia to redeploy some forces from the Kharkiv region and eastern Ukraine. But this is not enough to stop Russia's advance.
