Commander of Special Operations Forces unit turned out to be "mole" for Russian GRU, recruited before full-scale war - SSU. VIDEO
The SSU, with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, detained a Russian GRU "mole" who was passing plans for special operations of the Defence Forces in the rear of the enemy to the ruscists.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the SSU press centre.
It is noted that the intruder was a lieutenant colonel, commander of one of the units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who was recruited by the occupiers before the start of the full-scale war.
In the spring of 2024, he was remotely "activated" by a Russian GRU officer and assigned a task: to transmit plans for the Defence Forces' combat operations behind enemy lines to the ruscists.
The aggressor was most interested in intelligence on sabotage and reconnaissance raids by Ukrainian special forces behind the front line in Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Crimea directions.
To carry out the enemy's task, the "mole" used his official position, thanks to which he received information about the planned routes of movement of the Defence Forces, their weapons and "targets".
The occupiers planned to use this information to eliminate Ukrainian special forces on the front line or beyond it - on the temporarily occupied part of the territory in southern Ukraine.
The agent also "leaked" information about other units of the Defence Forces to his Russian handler.
As a result of the special operation, the SSU military counterintelligence documented the traitor's crimes in stages and detained him.
At the same time, comprehensive measures were taken to secure the locations of the Defence Forces.
According to the investigation, the defendant was recruited by the Russian military intelligence through his acquaintances in Russia, with whom he kept in touch.
During the searches, the SSU seized means of secret communication, computer equipment, a mobile phone and data storage devices.
The SBU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
The offender is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
