Scholz was nominated for post of chancellor: I will ensure that there are no wrong decisions on Ukraine
The Executive Board of the Social Democratic Party of Germany has unanimously nominated Olaf Scholz as a candidate for chancellor.

During his speech, Scholz defended his policy towards Ukraine.
"A lot has been said, a lot of things have been brought up for discussion. What is important is that I have consistently ensured that we do not make the wrong decisions," the current chancellor said.
"For example, when I said that we would not supply cruise missiles, for example, when I said that I did not agree that the heavy weapons we supply should be fired far into Russia," Scholz added.
To recap, the ruling coalition in Germany collapsed on November 6, 2024, when Olaf Scholz announced the dismissal of Finance Minister Christian Lindner, who is the chairman of the Free Democratic Party. Almost all members of the government from the Free Democratic Party (FDP) led by Lindner resigned.
