Zelenskyy appoints Mykhailo Drapatyi as Commander of Ground Forces of AFU

Mykhailo Drapatyi has been appointed the new commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Censor.NET reports.

Mykhailo Drapatyi has been appointed the new Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Oleh Apostol has been appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

Zelenskyy announced the relevant decisions after a meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on Friday, November 29.

"Together with the Commander-in-Chief, we made several personnel decisions for our army. Mykhailo Drapatyi has been appointed the new Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleh Apostol has been appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces," the Head of State said.

Zelenskyy noted that Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi successfully organized the defense in the Kharkiv direction and thwarted the offensive of Russian forces. And Colonel Oleh Apostol is an experienced commander of the 95th separate air assault brigade. Both have proven their effectiveness in combat.

"The main task is to significantly increase the combat capability of our army, ensure the quality of training and introduce innovative approaches to human resources management in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian army needs internal changes to fully achieve the goals of our state," the President stressed.

As a reminder, on February 11, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Lieutenant General Pavliuk Oleksandr Oleksiiovych as Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
