If war is frozen without strengthening Ukraine, then Putin will come in few years and destroy us completely, - Zelenskyy
Freezing the war without significantly strengthening Ukraine will lead to the fact that in a few years the occupation forces of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will resume aggression.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint briefing in Kyiv with the newly appointed President of the European Council Antonio Costa, Ukrinform reports, Censor.NET cites.
The President does not consider freezing Russia's war against Ukraine a good option.
"If the conflict is frozen without any strong position for Ukraine, then Putin will come in 2-3-5 years... I do not know... it does not depend on us... He will come back and destroy us completely and utterly. He will try to destroy us," the president said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine's position should be strengthened by the support of its allies before negotiations begin. In particular, it concerns the supply of weapons.
"The most important thing that was in our 'Victory Plan' was a package of weapons, including a good, sufficient number of long-range missiles, various points that were spelled out. This was in our plan, which we shared not only with our American partners but also with our European partners," the Ukrainian leader said.
Zelenskyy added that it is important to have an agenda for such a negotiation process, and then it is possible to start it.
The head of state also emphasized that, in addition to Ukraine and Russia, representatives of the EU and NATO should be at the negotiating table. According to the president, Ukraine sees itself as "part of the security system in these alliances."
Zelenskyy also added that the most difficult issue may be what to negotiate if Russia does not want peace and does not want to see Ukraine as an independent state in the future.
As a reminder, the head of state said that currently the best guarantee of security for our country is joining NATO.
