US has about $9bn more for military aid to Ukraine - Pentagon

The United States currently has about $9 billion in funds available for military assistance to Ukraine under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, as well as defence packages under the President's authority.
This was stated by the spokesman for the US Department of Defence, General Patrick Ryder, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
"There is $2.21 billion left under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), as well as $6.8 billion under the presidential authority," he explained.
When asked whether the Pentagon would be able to deliver all the aid to Ukraine before the end of the current administration's term, the general said that his department had received instructions from the White House. The essence of the instructions was to "make every effort to continue to provide assistance to Ukraine on an expedited basis and use the authority that is available."
According to Ryder, this is exactly what the US Department of Defence is doing.
"What hasn't changed in the ministry is the sense of urgency to provide support for Ukraine," he said.
He emphasised that the United States will continue to do so, and will also continue to engage with the Ukrainian side, allies and partners to ensure that Ukraine has the capabilities to defend its freedom and sovereignty.
