Norwegian Foreign Minister Eide on Lavrov’s speech: "Evidence from parallel universe"

У Норвегії назвали заяви Лаврова паралельним всесвітом

Norwegian Foreign Minister Bart Eide commented on the speech of his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov at a meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council.

He said this during the plenary session of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Malta, Censor.NET reports with reference to the European Parliament.

The minister stressed that Russia violates each of the principles of the Helsinki Final Act and the UN Charter.

"Because, ladies and gentlemen, the number one rule in international relations is: do not invade or occupy other countries. You have to respect sovereign equality. You have to respect the territorial integrity of other states. This is exactly what Russia does not do," he said.

Therefore, the Foreign Minister noted, Lavrov's statement looked like "evidence from a parallel universe."

"But this will not fool anyone. Of course, we know exactly what is happening. Ukraine must win and will win this war. We are many countries that support Ukraine in its heroic struggle not only for its independence, but also for the principles we all share," the Foreign Minister added.

Eide said that after Ukraine's victory, it will be necessary to "think about what the new post-war era should look like."

As a reminder, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov attended the OSCE meeting in Malta despite the European sanctions imposed on him. The European Commission explained that he was not under a travel ban.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference that the United States allegedly attacked Russia "with the hands of the Ukrainian regime" with the involvement of "Ukrainian neo-Nazis."
