Ukrainian Armed Forces make progress in Kupyansk sector, Russian troops have advanced in Pokrovsk-Kurakhove sector - Estonian intelligence

Ukrainian Armed Forces make progress in Kupiansk sector

The Ukrainian defence forces are successful in the Kupyansk direction, but Russian troops are advancing in the Pokrovsk-Kurakhove direction.

According to Censor.NET, citing ERR, this is stated in a report by Estonian intelligence.

It is noted that according to data from open geolocation sources, the Russian occupiers control the village of Shevchenko, located 4 km northwest of Pokrovsk.

"This affects the supply routes connecting Pokrovsk with Zaporizhzhia," the Estonian Defence Forces Intelligence Centre said.

It is also noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces showed courage in defending small settlements along the Sukhi Yaly River south of Kurakhove. Throughout the week, they withstood attacks from Russia, which tried to encircle the area from the north and south.

"The scale of Russia's 'meat assaults' is evidenced by open source data: in the Pokrovsk direction alone, about 3,000 people died in two weeks. It is estimated that these figures continue to grow as we approach Pokrovsk," the Estonian intelligence added.

In addition, unfavourable weather conditions are to some extent playing into the hands of Ukrainian forces. Russia's use of aviation and heavy equipment is complicated, and therefore it cannot use its full combat potential at the same time.

Despite the fact that the Russian Armed Forces are making progress in the Pokrovsk direction, they have not managed to achieve the desired breakthrough at the operational level. In this regard, Russia is increasing pressure on Ukrainian troops stationed in the Kursk region. By the end of the year, this region may become the centre of hostilities.

According to Estonian intelligence, Ukrainian defences are under much less pressure in other areas of the frontline. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also enjoyed success in the Kupyansk sector, where two bridgeheads that emerged during the crossing of the Oskil River were destroyed. Ukraine continues to conduct systematic strikes against Russian military infrastructure deep inside Russia. It uses weapons received from allies and its own developed systems.
