Zelenskyy to visit Brussels: tell about situation on battlefield and further steps - media

Zelenskyy is going to Brussels: what will he discuss?

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will pay a visit to Brussels, and on December 19, the head of state will join the EU leaders' summit.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Radio Liberty.

The agenda includes the situation in Georgia, Syria, and the Middle East, and discussions on Ukraine will also begin.

What will be discussed?

The EU official told reporters that in Brussels, Zelenskyy will tell his colleagues what the situation on the battlefield is now and share his vision for its further development.

The official said that the leaders are expected to exchange views with Zelenskyy, and then they will discuss what they have heard.

"We are now at a critical point. The EU must provide and insist on military support for Ukraine, ensuring its energy security, and the full implementation of sanctions (against Russia - Ed.). The EU should act in terms of assistance to Ukraine so that it is in the strongest position regardless of what may happen: negotiations or continuation of the war," the source said.

Peace talks

He emphasized that under any circumstances, it is up to Ukraine to decide whether to negotiate with Russia or continue fighting.

"Ukraine has to make its own decisions about its future. And also when the time for such decisions will come. Therefore, I think the message of the European Council will be clear: no decision on Ukraine without it," the EU official added.

The official noted that the Trump administration has not yet stated what policy it will pursue in this regard, and it would be "speculation" to speculate about it at this stage. At the same time, he confirmed that EU leaders will address this topic.

"Obviously, an important topic for debate among the 27 countries will also be what else can be done. We can do more if we need to support Ukraine on our own. I believe and hope that this is one of the questions that will be answered during the summit, or at least will begin to be sought. Because our commitments also mean that we are ready for any circumstances," he added.
