Tkachuk is dismissed from post of Head of National Army Academy - MoD

Lieutenant General Pavlo Tkachuk, who was complained about by military students for harassment and humiliation, was dismissed from the post of head of the National Army Academy named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense, Censor.NET reports.
It is noted that during the visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Lviv, Defense Minister Rustem Umierov reported to him on the results of the audit of the Main Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defense regarding the activities of the National Army Academy and numerous violations.
The President instructed him to immediately remedy the situation.
"Today, by order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Pavlo Tkachuk was dismissed from the post of head of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy," the defense ministry added.
What preceded it?
The military students of the academy had repeatedly filed complaints about harassment, humiliation, bullying, as well as poor quality of food and lack of necessary medicines at the medical center. In mid-March, the PIC (Provisional Investigatory Commission) received a collective complaint concerning the conditions for the expulsion of military students who demanded that their relatives or spouses come to pick them up for the weekend.
As noted by People's Deputy Yuliia Yatsyk, this situation is absurd when adult officers are forced to depend on their parents for permission to go on vacation.
These complaints have led to an inspection of the academy, and if violations are confirmed, measures will be taken in accordance with the law.
What is known about Tkachuk?
Pavlo Tkachuk has been the Chief of the Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy since September 2009.
In 2015, he received the award of Honored Education Worker of Ukraine for his significant personal contribution to strengthening the defense capabilities of the Ukrainian state, courage, dedication and high professionalism in the performance of military duty, and on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In June, the State Bureau of Investigation announced suspicion of beating and humiliating military students to the head of the course of the National Army Academy. The investigation documented the beating of four military students. The officer beat them on the head and various parts of the body with his hands, a rifle butt and a belt.
The academy emphasized that the officer was transferred "to one of the combat brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" on April 26. On June 6, he was detained by law enforcement. In addition, the academy added that immediately after the leadership learned about the violations on the part of the military, he was reassigned to a position that does not involve working with personnel.
