Putin regrets that he did not launch full-scale invasion of Ukraine earlier and did not prepare better

Putin on the start of the SMO

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said he regrets that he did not launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine earlier and that it happened quite spontaneously.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Putin's words during the so-called "Year in Review".

Putin was asked whether he would change his "decision of February 2022," meaning the start of the so-called "special military operation."

To this, Putin replied that the "SMO" should have been launched earlier.

"This decision, which was made in early 2022, should have been made earlier, this is the first thing. Secondly, we should have started preparing, in particular for the "SMO". The Crimean events were spontaneous, among other things. We also started the events of 2022 without preparing for them. But why did we start them? Because it was impossible to stand still and endure any longer," the dictator said.

He explained the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the fact that the Ukrainian authorities refused to implement the Minsk agreements and Russia was "forced" to do so.

"We were forced to take these actions. If we had known what would happen in advance, we would have had to conduct systematic and serious preparations," he said.

Earlier, the Kremlin dictator said that Russia was ready for negotiations and compromises, but Ukraine refused.
