Putin’s statements on nuclear threats are groundless - Head of NATO Representation Turner

NATO closely monitors possible nuclear threats from Russia but does not record significant changes in its nuclear policy.
This was stated by the Head of the NATO Representation to Ukraine Patrick Turner in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.
"We always assess whether there is a serious nuclear threat 24/7, every day of the year. We take this very seriously. We do not see any serious actual changes in Russia's nuclear policy. Recently, it has been said at least twice that Russia has revised its nuclear doctrine, but we do not see an increase in the real threat," Turner emphasized.
According to him, the Kremlin's statements about the possibility of using nuclear weapons are aimed at intimidating Ukrainians and deterring partners from helping Ukraine. At the same time, these attempts have not affected either NATO's support for Ukraine or the morale of Ukrainians.
"But we do not believe that there is a real increase in the threat of Russia using nuclear weapons. And we don't think it's useful to spend our time talking about Russian nuclear threats because of Putin's gun slinging," Turner emphasized.
Speaking about the Kremlin's information provocations, Turner noted that this is part of an escalation aimed at raising doubts among Ukraine's allies. However, such actions continue to be ineffective.
