Ukrainian specialists have successfully transformed a civilian light aircraft into a heavy kamikaze drone that can carry a powerful warhead and has a flight range of more than 1000 km.
This is reported by the German edition of Bild, Censor.NET informs.
This drone, despite its large size, has proven to be a difficult target for Russian air defense due to its design features.
The drone is equipped with a stealthy engine that does not heat up to high temperatures like most missiles, making it difficult for Russian air defense radars to detect. In addition, a special film provides radar protection, and flying at low altitudes and low speeds adds additional advantages in evading enemy systems.
The kamikaze drone is particularly effective in attacks on Russian territory. The most famous case was the attack on the Shahed kamikaze drone manufacturing plant in Tatarstan, which is located more than 1,200 kilometers from Ukraine.
It is also reported that this type of drone was used to strike Russian targets in Grozny and other regions at a considerable distance from the Ukrainian border.
Although the analysis of the video attacks points to some weaknesses of this weapon, including the limited number of available units, its effectiveness in performing deep strikes remains high.
