Russian missile causes crash of Azerbaijan Airlines plane in Kazakhstan - Euronews

A Russian surface-to-air missile caused the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane in Aktau, Kazakhstan, on Wednesday, December 25.
This was reported to Euronews by sources in the Azerbaijani government, Censor.NET reports.
According to the sources, a preliminary investigation found that the missile was fired at Flight 8432 during drone activity over Grozny. The missile exploded near the plane, and its fragments hit passengers and crew.
Euronews' government sources noted that the damaged plane was not allowed to land at any Russian airport despite the pilots' requests for an emergency landing. The plane was ordered to fly across the Caspian Sea to Aktau in Kazakhstan.
It is noted that the aircraft's GPS navigation systems were jammed throughout the flight over the sea.
At the same time, the AnewZ publication, citing Azerbaijani government sources, reported that the missile was fired from the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile system.

On December 25, an Embraer plane en route from Baku to Grozny, Russia, crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau.
38 people died as a result of the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane. According to one version in the media, the plane could have been hit by air defense systems over the territory of the Russian Federation.
