Consequences of attack on Kyiv

Over the course of the year, Russian troops conducted almost 200 air strikes on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv using UAVs and missiles.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the head of the Kyiv CMA Serhii Popko.

"For Kyiv, as well as for the whole of Ukraine, 2024 was a difficult year... Although Kyiv has not been officially included in the list of areas of possible hostilities for 2 years, the war ‘reminds’ our city every day," Popko said.

Strikes on Kyiv

Thus, it is reported that during 2024, 500 air raid alerts rang out in Kyiv. During them, the Russian armed forces conducted almost 200 air strikes on the capital of Ukraine. Russian troops used more than 1,600 munitions of various types against peaceful Kyiv:

  • more than 1300 UAVs;
  • more than 200 cruise missiles (Kh-101/Kh-59/Kh-69/Iskander-K/Kalibr);
  • 24 ballistic missiles (Iskander-M/KN-23);
  • 22 "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles;
  • 7 "Zircon" hypersonic missiles.

According to the head of the CMA, the most massive attack on Kyiv was a combined strike, during which the enemy used 78 weapons simultaneously, including 49 Kh-101 missiles and 10 "Kinzhal" aerial ballistic missiles. In total, in 2024, the capital withstood 6 massive and 14 combined air strikes.

Destruction of housing

In 2024, Russia damaged almost 550 residential buildings in Kyiv. Almost 120 people were left homeless. The number of IDPs in Kyiv increased by almost 11,000.

Strikes on the energy sector

For almost 100 days last year, Kyiv residents lived under emergency or stabilisation blackouts. At the same time, the average duration of the power outage for an average resident of the capital was approximately 9 hours per day.

"As a motivation, I will give you an example of our best women in the world. Despite the war, shelling, lack of electricity and other difficult problems, our resilient Ukrainian women gave birth to almost 21,000 children in Kyiv maternity hospitals in 2024!" added the head of the CMA.
