Italy has allocated 13 million euros to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine on behalf of Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

Censor.NET reports with reference to "European Pravda" that the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced this.

The Italian foreign ministry noted that this decision "is an important step in efforts to restore energy systems" that were damaged by Russian attacks.

"Italy's contribution, one of the largest for a single country, will help stabilise the electricity supply to millions of war-affected Ukrainians in this difficult time," the Italian Foreign Ministry said.

With this contribution, Italy confirms its continued support for the resilience of Ukraine's energy sector, the ministry added.

"Italy's commitment to contribute to the Fund comes at a crucial time when attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure continue. This contribution also demonstrates the Fund's ability to quickly provide the equipment that the country so desperately needs," the statement said.

The Energy Support Fund for Ukraine was established at the joint initiative of the Ministry of Energy and the European Commission in spring 2022. The Fund's donors include the public and private sectors from almost all EU countries, the UK and the US, as well as international and regional organisations.

Earlier, the Ministry of Energy reported that the total amount of donor commitments for grant contributions to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine exceeded €1 billion.
