We are preparing to restore diplomatic relations with Syria, - Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced preparations to restore diplomatic relations with Syria.
He said this in a video message, Censor.NET reports.
"The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha and the Minister of Agrarian Policy Vitalii Koval have just reported on their talks in Syria and Lebanon with the new Syrian administration and Lebanese business. Our prospects are both security and trade in the region. This year, we can add more countries to our list of reliable partners. In particular, Syria. We are preparing to restore diplomatic relations with Syria and the interaction of international organisations," he stressed.
According to Zelenskyy, trade with Lebanon will also increase.
"Now we have $400 million in agricultural exports with this country alone. We are preparing to increase it at least twice. In 2025, we will also be more active in working with Africa. Each such new partnership means more opportunities for our diplomacy. More opportunities for our economy," the President added.
Earlier, Zelenskyy listened to a report from the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Agrarian Policy on his visit to Syria.
As reported, Sybiha met with the new Syrian leader in Damascus. He also noted that the first batch of Ukrainian flour would arrive in Syria as part of the Grain from Ukraine programme.
In addition, Censor.NET reported that Sybiha disclosed the details of his visit to Damascus and said that Ukraine was interested in cooperation with Syria.
